Dorset U15 & U17 teams travelled to Jersey on May 1st and 2nd. The U15 team lead by Margaret Bainton won 45-5. The U15 team comprised of Ciara Lindsey, Charlotte Murray, Emma Smith, Hannah Turner, Michael Higbee, Rory Lindsey, Ben Mynors-Wallace, David Garcia. The final results were: England Scotland Ireland Wales Lynnette was seeded number two in the England team and won all her singles and doubles events. As a result of the No. 1 England player receiving an injury Lynnette was nominated to play Number 1 representing England against Ireland and secured a win. In the individual events, Lynnette reached the semi final in the singles, semi final in level doubles and quarter final in mixed. England won as a team and Lynnette was made England team captain for the finals presentation. Well done Lynnette let us hope you will represent England in many more matches. The Dorset County Badminton Trials will be held this year on Sunday 27th June 2010 , at Sir David English Sports, Centre, East Way, Bournemouth, 9.00-10:30am U13’s (Children born in 98,99,2000 or 2001), 10:30-11:45am U15’s (Children born in 96 or 97) and 11:45am-1:00pm U.17’s (Children born in 94 or 95). Lynette Aung represented the Dorset U17 Team as No. 1 Girls singles player. Congratulations go to Lynette Aung age 14 on being invited to represent England in the 5 Nations Badminton Championships at U.15 in Home Countries Quadrangular at Llanelli Leisure Centre, Wales on 23/24 April 2010. Sophie Males is the Dorset County 2010 Under 12 girls Champion. This years Championships were held in March at the Ashdown Centre in Poole. Tommy Bridger, David Higbee, Jack McGregor and Jamie Turner from the Dorset Under 11 squad qualified for and went to the Under 11 National Championships at Hatfield on 7th of March. To check out their photos please visit the gallery page. We're very proud of them all and how they have all grown stronger and matured as players as the season has progressed. They all displayed some superb badminton skills and put up a real fight against some of the best in the country. David Higbee managed to get as far as the quarter finals losing to Alex Cook (ranked no.4) but not before taking the match to three ends with a real fight and gallant performance. All the boys could walk away with their heads held high, knowing that they'd given their best. Very well done boys!! Also we must congratulate the boys’ coaches Mark and Kat who did a sterling job keeping the boys morale and drive going throughout the day. Dorset U13 Chloe wins Bronze medal.
