U15 away to Somerset

ImageWell done to our Dorset County U15 team who travelled to Crewkerne last Sunday for a match against Somerset.  Having started the match 5-0 down due to player illness we clawed the score back to 8-4 in our favour with Jack MacGregor fighting for every point in his very tight three-setter against Chris Pang and eventually winning 21-17 in the third.

Good play continued and we managed to take 11 out of the 18 doubles, with the highlight of the day being our 1st string girls doubles pairing Chloe Wakely and Bernice Dore beating the very strong experienced partnership and gold ranked Jenny Naylor and Helen O'Rourke in two sets.

Dorset claimed the match 22-14.

The team - Sophie Males, Chloe Wakely, Amy Cox, Bernice Dore, Gemma Curtis, Hannah Turner, Daniel Bliss, Jack MacGregor, Tommy Bridger, Cameron Jones, Alex Jollife.

Under 11 vs Cornwall
Dorset U11s came up against a strong Cornwall side on the 5th Feb.  Having started the match 15-0 down sadly due to lack of girls, the U11s managed to claw 3 singles back and both top boys and girls doubles pairings won the games against the third string Cornwall pairs.  Dorset also won 3 out of the 6 mixed games but sadly the match had already gone to Cornwall.  The team shouldn't be disheartened as all but 2 of the players are 8 and 9 years of age and therefore are still a young team with a 2 more years of U11s match experience to come.

U15 vs Avon

Well done to U15 team - a convincing win over Avon 31-5 in South West scoring and 16-4 in Shires league.

Team - Daniel Bliss, Jack MacGregor, David Higbee, Max Travers, Cameron Jones, Alex Jolliffe, Charlotte Murray, Sophie Males, Amy Cox, Melissa Hensleigh, Chloe Wakely and Gemma Curtis.

Dorset U13 v Somerset

The Dorset U13’s set off for their first away match of the season with a 16-0 lead confirmed by the
absence of four girls in Somerset’s line up. The boys did not relax on this healthy lead with assertive
performances from Cameron Yorke (21-10, 21-12) and Harry Cook (21-6, 21-6) setting the tone for
the afternoon.
