2nd Team Season Report 2024/25

The 2024–2025 season was a landmark year for the Dorset County 2nd Team, culminating in a hard-earned and thoroughly deserved promotion to Division 2 South West. Demonstrating consistency, determination, and a fantastic team spirit throughout the campaign, the squad delivered high-quality performances across all fixtures. Under the steady leadership of captain Naomi Bodman, the team showcased a perfect blend of experience and emerging talent, establishing Dorset as a rising force in county badminton.

 Women’s Squad:

 Nicky Dochniak – A reliable and agile player, Nicky’s net play and sharp returns added a competitive edge in crucial women’s doubles ties.

Alaina Morgan – Brought composure and tactical awareness, forming strong partnerships that helped secure key wins.

Nicole Howcroft – Known for her aggressive style, Nicole played a pivotal role in tight three-setters throughout the season.

Safia Khimji– Safia contributed vital points and brought fresh energy to the women’s line-up.

Emily Boucher – Displayed excellent movement and adaptability, especially when rotated into mixed doubles pairings.

Ruby Slate – Made important contributions in the second half of the season, which strengthened the women’s roster.

Tabby Sinclair – A dependable player, Tabby delivered consistent performances under pressure and bonded well in rotational pairs.

 Men’s Squad:

 Jack Moore – A cornerstone of the men’s team, Jack’s powerful smashes and control under pressure proved decisive in numerous matches.

 Andrew Lands – Demonstrated strong court coverage and resilience, often turning the tide in close encounters.

 Andrew Williams – An experienced and strategic player, bringing composure and smart shot selection to both men's and mixed play.

 Rory Lindsay – Provided athleticism and pace, often energising the team with dynamic performances.

 Alex Whitehead – Delivered strong results across the board, particularly effective in breaking down aggressive opposition pairs.

Rajveer Honrao – One of the standout players of the season, Rajveer's versatility in men’s and mixed doubles was key in tight matchups.

As Dorset County 2nd Team moves up to Division 2 South West, the squad will face new challenges but also greater opportunities. With a strong foundation, passionate players, and excellent leadership, the future looks bright for this determined group. Preparation for the upcoming season is already underway, with eyes set on building on this year’s success and continuing the county’s rise through the ranks.
